This One Too Will Be Overthrown': Khamenei Mocks Trump With Sarcophagus Cartoon

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Monday launched a sharp attack on US President Donald Trump, sharing a provocative cartoon on social media platform X amid deadliest wave of unrest in the Islamic Republic in recent years.

The the image posted by Khamenei depicted Trump as a crumbling ancient Egyptian-style sarcophagus and was accompanied by the message, “This one too will be overthrown."

In his post, Khamenei warned that leaders who rule with “arrogance and pride, passing judgment on the entire world," often meet the same fate as historical tyrants. Drawing parallels with figures from history, he wrote, “That father figure who sits there with arrogance and pride, passing judgment on the entire world, he too should know that usually the tyrants and oppressors of the world, such as Pharaoh and Nimrod and Reza Khan and Mohammad Reza and the likes of them, when they were at the peak of their pride, were overthrown, This one too will be overthrown."

The post comes at a time of heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington, with Iran grappling with widespread protests and an intensified crackdown that rights groups say has resulted in hundreds of deaths. Meanwhile, the US President has repeatedly issued warnings of possible American intervention in support of protesters, further escalating the war of words between the two countries.

Trump Says Iran Seeks Negotiations As US Weighs Military Options

Further, Trump claimed that Iranian leaders have reached out to negotiate after the US issued a military threat against the Islamic Republic for crackdown on protesters. He said a meeting was being arranged, but warned that the US may still act if developments before the talks require immediate action.

Trump said, “They called to negotiate. Yesterday, the leaders of Iran called. They want to negotiate. I think they’re tired of being beaten up by the United States. We may meet with them. I mean, a meeting is being set up, but we may have to act because of what’s happening before the meeting. But a meeting is being set up."

The US President also said that he is in contact with Iranian opposition leaders. Earlier, Trump said that military strikes against Iran were being considered after reports that protesters have been killed during ongoing anti-government demonstrations.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump was asked whether Iran had crossed the “red line," He responded, “They’re starting to. There seem to be some people killed." He added that the situation was being taken seriously by Washington.
